Listening-or specifically, active listening is a valuable skill to have and vital for a range of jobs. Verbal communication isn’t just about speaking. Make sure to convey information that’s relevant to your audience and try to be clear and concise. When speaking, be conscious of your tone and language. It can therefore be more structured and formal or more unstructured and informal. Examples of verbal communication are a conversation, a speech, a presentation and even a phone call. Verbal communication consists of using speech to share information with others. For instance, knowing how to write a professional email and email etiquette is critical since it’s often the most frequently used form of written communication. Never underestimate the importance of spelling and grammar. When applying to jobs that require written communication, give examples of how you structured your work and engaged your audience in the past.
